SMASH EXPAND CRUNCH CONTRACT
Cyclic Cosmos.
Our universe is currently expanding at an accelerating rate. We all know of the BIG BANG, but there are also theories about what happened before it and where this expansion is going. One theory is that the BIG BANG was caused by two universes smashing into each other. Other ideas say the expansion will reach a maximum and CRUNCH back and contract into another BANG.
Because we all know BANG so well, I have chosen the other term SMASH, followed by EXPAND, CRUNCH, CONTRACT, written in English, read left to right, represents TIME. Thus the path around the sleeve of shirt is a model of the CYCLIC COSMOS, being born over and over, in circular time, expanding and contracting like a giant pair of lungs breathing.

The brass MR label has been laminated so as not to react with skin, but be careful putting on and taking off if you have a lot of hair.

There has been a lot of care at every stage of production. And like all the black and white photos in my second show at Guild & Greyshkul, these all got rinsed at some point in my bathtub. The very SAME bathtub in fact.
